Oona Doherty
Performance
Oona Doherty is a dance artist based in Northern Ireland. She studied at the London School of Contemporary Dance, University of Ulster and LABAN London and has been performing dance theatre internationally since 2010, working with companies including TRASH (NL), Abbattoir Ferme (BE), Veronika Riz (IT) and Emma Martin/United Fall (IE). Most recently, Oona has performed in Enda Walsh’s critically acclaimed Arlington (Galway International Arts Festival, Abbey Theatre Dublin and St. Anne’s Warehouse New York).
For the solo Hope Hunt and the ascention into Lazarus, originally choreographed for herself, Oona received the Silver Lion at the 2021 Vendig Dance Biennale. Among Oona’s other works are the large-scale piece titled Hard tobe Soft - A Belfast Prayer (www.hardtobesoft.com), which premiered as part of Belfast International Arts Festival 2017, and Lady Magma, a piece for 6 or more women performers, which premiered in the Spring of 2019 during La Biennale du Val de Marne, France.
