Horst Konietzny
is a director, author, lecturer and curator who focuses on interdisciplinary projects. He has directed works at municipal theatres and in the independent arts scene, working at the intersection of music, theatre and the visual arts. He has produced several documentary theatre productions at Thalia Theater Hamburg, Theater Nürnberg and others.
Since the mid-1990s, he has shifted towards working independently, creating art in public spaces and pieces on cultural urban development, memory culture and public media art. He teaches and realises projects in the fields of interactive, mobile media and interactive dramaturgy.
Since 2012, he has been the director of the modular, mobile SIGNALRAUM (signal space), an interdisciplinary project for sound art and new media. In concerts, symposia, workshops, exhibitions, sessions and performances, it presents current developments in interdisciplinary media arts. It also develops its own formats, such as “Concert for kicker and ensemble at the Jewish Museum” in Munich or the project SIGNALRAUM/UNIKATE, which was shown as part of the opening festival of the Bauhausjahr 2019 in Berlin.
Another aspect of his work is the development of audio guides such as the acoustic history trail on the subject of National Socialism in Munich or the audio tour "Voices" for the Jewish Museum in Munich, which was followed by further sound installations and numerous radio productions for various broadcasting stations.
